First kiss

October 7th, 2009

Lauren told me today that she kissed a boy – in theory her first kiss to a boy outside our family! She was very giddy about it and thought it was all very funny.

She was playing “family” – her favourite game at school, where someone is the Mummy, someone the Daddy, someone (usually Lauren) the cat etc. Kai C is the lucky guy and Lauren said he didn’t really want to be kissed.

Then she told us that she kissed him on the ankle.

Not sure that really is a valid kiss then… :)

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

September 1st, 2009

Lauren says to me the other day:

Lauren: Daddy, are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Me: I don’t know. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Lauren: No.

2nd lost tooth

August 9th, 2009

Lauren lost her 2nd tooth now – the one right beside the bottom one which she lost the other week. It had been loose for a little while so it wasn’t too surprising it came out. It came out in the car on the way back from Pauline and Willy’s place.

Evan and Lauren talk about some sort of intricate plot by the tooth fairy to recycle the teeth. Apparently, somehow the tooth fairy takes the collected teeth and implants them into babies, so when the baby grows, it pushes out the tooth naturally. I guess they would have learned that from kids at their school, but it’s a good story! :)

1st lost tooth

July 18th, 2009

Lauren lost her first tooth today at around 8:30am during breakfast. It had been loose for around a week and we were wondering when it would come out. She didn’t fuss at all and is excited about the tooth fairy bringing her money!

Shovel sucks

June 28th, 2009

The kids were playing the Indiana Jones video game with Lauren watching and Lauren tells the boys:

“Get the shovel” for digging up burried treasure.

David and Evan reply: “No, the shovel sucks!”

Lauren replies: “No, it digs!”

David and Evan reply: “No, it sucks. Do you even know what sucks means?”

Actually, she probably doesn’t. :)

Marrying

May 29th, 2009

Lauren was playing with Jesse (a boy) and she said “I like Jesse – one day I might marry him.”

Nicole told this to Jesse and asked him if he was going to marry her and he said:

“Hmmm… let me see…”

“NO!”

“Just friends.”

How to find a husband

May 29th, 2009

Lauren said to Nicole the other day:

“How do I find a husband?”

That raised an interesting discussion at dinner with the kids. Here was Evan’s response:

“You have to travel around the world and when you find them you ask ‘Will you marry me?'”

Lauren then said:

“When I grow up I’m going to get a husband and he’s going to get me a turtle.”

Maybe this will come true in 20 years! :)

Chickenpox

March 14th, 2009

Well, it looks like Lauren has the chickenpox now. About 2 weeks after Evan first got it, Lauren started showing pox today. We were wondering if it was going to happen, and now it looks like it has. Actually, she said she wanted to get them, so that she too could stay at home and watch TV all day. :)

Setsubun 2009

February 4th, 2009

We had a 1 day delay to setsubun this year, because I had to work late on setsubun. So today we made masks and got the beans out to throw outside and inside the house and yelled “おにはそと。ふくはうち”. Lauren’s mask looked really good I think (for a 4 year old). Here it is:

Here was mine:

Lauren’s first sleep-over

January 24th, 2009

On Friday night, Lauren had her first sleep-over with Marlena at Marlena’s house. I think it all went pretty well. Evan had a sleep-over at our house with Lucas at the same time! It was strange not having Lauren in the house!
