That’s me!!!

Monday, January 29th, 2007

We went out to a korean barbeque yesterday and at the table next to us were some little girls sitting with their parents. Lauren walked over to them and said:

“Nisaihan – that’s me!” (2 and a half years old – that’s me!)

Ambiguous question

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Lauren loves to look at the calendar books that Peter gave us for Christmas. In one of the books is the photo of Oma, Nicole and Lauren each wearing hair elastics in their hair. I pointed to it and asked:

“Lauren, what do each of the girls have?”

and Lauren replied:

“Vaginas”

I guess I could have been more clear…

Funny voices

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Every now and then, Evan and Lauren request that we “talk in our funny voices.”

Nicole transforms herself (at least her voice) to: Penelope Franakapanz

who is matched (not so equally by) her cousin: Nigel.

Polar-bear “go fish”

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

We have a card game which is pretty well the same thing as “go fish”. Lauren recently started playing it with us and is doing quite well. She can’t easily hold the cards, and she is not fussed whether she wins or loses. Evan will try to cheat and look at people’s cards to figure out whether he can ask them a suit or not.

Garfield

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

I borrowed the Garfield movie and played it for the kids and the kids found it so funny! Lauren in particular couldn’t stop herself from laughing! And she’s got such a cute, contagious laugh, it made us laugh as well.

Girl-boy

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Lauren loves to point out people in her pictures who are either a “girl” or a “boy”. She’ll ramble on for quite some time saying things like:

Lauren’s a girl. Mummy’s a girl. Daddy’s a boy. Oma’s a girl. Evan’s a boy…

She seems to take great pride in telling me the gender of the different people in pictures…

Tickling

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

Lauren discovered tickling herself today. She was lying with Nicole in bed at night-time and she said:

“I found my arm! I can tickle me!”

She was reaching under her arm to her armpit and was making herself laugh!

Knitting

Monday, January 1st, 2007

Lauren’s very confident. She often says she knows how to do things even if she’s never done them before. Nicole’s doing some knitting for a friend’s baby and Lauren says:

“I know how to knit! I taught myself!” :)

Anpanman song

Monday, January 1st, 2007

Lauren still loves the Anpanman song and will usually ask me to sing it at various times of the day. Once I was fixing her sheets after she had been sleeping for a few hours in the evening, and she somehow woke up, sat up, dazed and said:

“Anpanman song”

She must dream about it! :)
