It’s amazing how well Lauren focuses on something. She’ll see something from across the room, stare it down, crawl over to it, without taking her eyes off it, and get it. I can’t remember Evan being that focused.

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005Sleep
Monday, March 28th, 2005Lauren is so different from Evan. Tonight, Lauren woke up for one reason or another (I think her new teeth are coming in and she may be catching the cold that Evan already has). Anyways, I held Lauren horizontally in my arms and started to sing to her, and she calmed down right away! Amazing! I used to sing to Evan but he never responded to it. Amazing that the first time I try this with Lauren and it works! She cried a bit when I put her down, but she’s been asleep since then!
Chicken and drink bottle
Monday, March 28th, 2005Lauren had pieces of chicken today for the first time. It’s almost as if she’ll eat anything we’re eating. We’re still holding out on things, such as dairy products (mainly milk) and sweet things, but she’s had lots of what we’re eating already. She seems to like bread and bread-like food best.
She’s also proficient now at drinking out of a drinking bottle that we always use. She knows how to suck in and how to swallow what she gets. She’s so good!
Standing
Sunday, March 20th, 2005Lauren’s progressing very well with her standing now. She can stand for split seconds all on her own and usually lands gracefully on her bum when left standing alone. She is still trying at every attempt to stand up, and will crawl to the other side of the room to get to something to stand upright with.
Cheesy-mite
Wednesday, March 16th, 2005Lauren had a bit of cheesy-mite today for the first time. She quite liked it and was able to take a good bite out of the bread.
raspberries
Wednesday, March 16th, 2005Lauren loves giving raspberries these days – on my or Mummy’s tummy. The other day, she even gave a raspberry to the chair seat.
Speaking
Sunday, March 13th, 2005Lauren started speaking the other day. Well, at least baby-talk. She does quite clearly say Dada, and Mama, but it’s very unlikely she knows that that means.
We’ll also ask her to kiss Evan and she’ll lean over and sort-of kiss him. She’s so cute!
She’s crawling so well these days. It’s very easy for her to get across the room now.
We had to lower her cot today since she’s always standing up in it and we’re worried she’ll fall out over the top. She’ll probably still stand, but at least she won’t fall out.
Crawling
Thursday, March 3rd, 2005Lauren’s now crawling pretty well. She’ll routinely take 4-5 steps crawling. It’s pretty amazing watching her make this big leap in mobility.
