Standin from sitting

Monday, January 31st, 2005

Lauren can stand from a sitting position quite easily now. That is, if she sits on our lap, with her feet on the chair, she’ll lift herself up by the back of the chair from the sitting position, to the standing position. She really likes to be standing and this way she can do it whenever she’s not lying down.

3 teeth

Monday, January 31st, 2005

Lauren’s got 3 teeth now! Amazing! Her two bottom teeth are through and an incisor at the top has just come through. I was expecting the top front teeth at the top, so not sure why one of the side ones is coming through. Maybe they’ll all appear around the same time.

Rolling and sitting

Monday, January 31st, 2005

Lauren’s doing awesome sitting and rolling. She’ll roll around in a circle if we leave her, and she’s trying to crawl by lifting her bum up. She’ll roll over if she sees something she wants and can grab us by the shorts or something to get herself face-to-face with us.

Turning over in bed

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

Lauren’s now turning over in bed, which is a good sign she’s ready to be mobile. She can easily move from front to back and appears to prefer lying on her tummy.

Getting teeth

Wednesday, January 26th, 2005

I got home today from not seeing the family for 8 days (Melbourne trip) and found out that Lauren is getting her first tooth! Not sure which one it is (left or right) but it’s on the bottom. She’s growing up!

2 solid meals a day

Friday, January 14th, 2005

Lauren’s getting 2 solid meals a day now – at noon and at dinner-time. It’s still a top-up from breast-milk, but she’s getting more into it, and understands what food is all about and opens her mouth readily now.

Growling

Wednesday, January 12th, 2005

Lauren’s gotten into growling. Not sure what she means by it, but it’s definately a bear-growl sound.

Sitting up and grabbing things

Sunday, January 9th, 2005

Lauren’s developing very well. We can now more or less leave her sitting at any place and she won’t hurt herself. She’ll really reach out for things to play with, and is very interested in things in general. She’ll also hold up her arms when she thinks we’re going to pick her up, which is very cute.

Sitting up with ease

Wednesday, January 5th, 2005

Lauren’s a pro now at sitting up and can easily right herself if she’s falling over. She still loves to grab at things and anything in our hands during dinner or within reach, she’ll try to grab it. She still is very quiet, even if she can’t reach something.

Crawling backwards

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

Lauren’s started crawling backwards, which is the first steps to crawling. We’ll put her on her tummy on the jungle-gym and she’ll start to crawl backwards. Once she realises that she can move about, she’ll use that to get to the things she wants. She’ll often reach out for something, even though it’s too far away to get.
