Firemen

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

Lauren and Evan were really lucky once when they walked past the fire station. We’ll usually stop and have a look, as there’s usually something going on and both the kids love firetrucks.

This time there were a bunch of firemen hanging around and Nicole and the kids started talking to them. They were all really nice and they loved the kids. They then let the kids stand on the firetrucks and even put on a helmet. They loved it! Lauren gave one of them a kiss afterwards.

Understands Japanese

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

Lauren can understand Japanese! We were amazed when we asked her:

“Atama wa doko desu ka?” (where is your head?)

and she pointed to her head. Then we asked various body parts like Hana (nose), Me (eye), Mimi (ear) and she got them all right! She’s amazing!

Excited

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

Lauren gets quite excited about picking Evan up from school and will usually take something with her in the car. It’s usually something different every time. Then, if they are driving past Evan’s school, she’ll point and say “Bubba” (brother).

Shoes

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

Lauren can take her own shoes off now, and she’ll neatly place them in a straight row. She still really likes shoes and will usually gravitate to some if they’re visible in a store.

Hello Kitty

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

Lauren is crazy about Hello Kitty, the Sanrio marketed image of a little cat. She’s quite cute and Lauren absolutely loves her. Whenever we go past something that has a Hello Kitty image, she’ll point and say “Kit” for Kitty. She’s so cute.

New words

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Lauren has tonnes of new words now that she can say. Some of the new words are:

  • Clock and tick-tick
  • Please
  • Apple
  • Pointing to toes and saying “Pay” (for paint)

Dancing

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Lauren loves to dance. She’s the hit of the dance class. She has no inhibitions and really gets into it. She had Nicole in tears when she was jumping around flailing her arms with her tongue sticking out.

Lolo

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Lauren can kind of say her name now. We ask her what her name is and she’ll say “Lolo” (“loh-loh”). Sometimes it comes through as “Lou-lou”). She’s so cute!

Good Girl!

Sunday, May 7th, 2006

At the end of the nightly lullaby, Lauren will sing along and now she’ll say “good girl” at the end. I guess she’s repeating what we’ve been telling her…

Running

Sunday, May 7th, 2006

Lauren really loves running now, and doesn’t like to hold our hand when she wants to run. She’s getting more independant these days.
