Perfected the wave

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

Lauren has perfected her wave now and will actively wave when she knows she’s going away. She’s also making splashes in the bath and watching the ripples from it.

Pointing

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

Lauren likes to point these days. She’s also sitting comfortably on her knees.

The ‘Ta’ game

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

Nicole and Lauren have a game, called the ‘ta’ game, where Lauren gives Nicole something, Nicole says ‘ta’ and gives it back to Lauren (and then repeat). Usually with food, which may mean Lauren likes to share. Sharing is of course something we’re encouraging.

vroom, vroom

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

Lauren now makes vroom, vroom sounds. Her vocabulary is now:

Mama
Dada
Baba (brother)
Gaga (Grandma)
Vroom vroom

Tooth number 7

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

Lauren’s 7th tooth is finally coming in. It’s been about 2 months since the last set of teeth came through! I suspect the 8th one is in there somewhere.

Interestingly, Evan’s got a gap in his bottom teeth, and Lauren’s got a gap in her top teeth. I’m sure it’ll all sort itself out when the proper teeth arrive.

Close to walking

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

Lauren is so close to walking. She easily stands alone for many seconds, and walks routinely around things like tables, doors etc. Today I tried to get her to walk to me, and she sort-of took a step, but it was more of a leaning-forward about to fall foot movement.

Standing lots

Monday, April 11th, 2005

Lauren’s standing a lot these days and Nicole said that today she stood on her own for around 10 seconds! She’s so amazing! She’ll be walking soon!

15 Steps

Friday, April 8th, 2005

Lauren just crawled up all 15 steps! Good thing she was followed by Mummy.

Steps

Thursday, April 7th, 2005

Lauren’s walking up steps now – we found her on the 3rd step the other day! Time to put up the gate! The fox gate.

Walking

Tuesday, April 5th, 2005

Lauren’s doing very well with trying to walk. She’s very good at walking around the tea-table and can easily stand around with one hand on something to give her a bit of balance. She can stand without help for longer now, and you can see her thought processes going on in her head when we wants to walk to something close and is trying to decide whether to reach and walk there, or to fall onto her bum and crawl over. She’s so cute!
