We were barbequing the other day and we were roasting marshmallows. We finished the plastic bag, so I threw it into the fire. Lauren was mesmerised by the flames, but she kept talking about the marshmallow bag. Even a few days later in the car, she’d say “marshmallow bag”.
Lauren got some Halloween plates from Grandma the other day and she takes it with her where-ever she goes. She even takes them to bed!
Lauren still likes to bite her fingernails. We are really trying to get her to stop. One day Nicole said to her “Lauren, stop biting your nails!” and Lauren held up one finger and said “Just this one.”
Lauren will always remind me when I’m off to work:
“Not too late!”
Lauren is becoming more and more stroppy or rebellious and will sometimes intentionally not do what we ask her to do. She’ll usually end up in the “naughty corner” or worse, time-out in her room, but today in the pool area, she was so rebellious, that she got a smack on her nappied bottom. She didn’t like that and threw herself onto the floor and cried for about 1/2 hour and didn’t want to come with us. After leaving her there like that for a while, I had to go back and pick her up and after that she behaved pretty well. It’s getting more and more common for her to throw herself onto the floor and kick up a fuss. <sigh>
Lauren really loves the Guri and Gura book and she’ll often open it herself and try to read it. She calls the characters “Gudi” and “Guda” (sort of like Gouda) although the “d” sound is quite similar to a soft “r” sound. She also calls the chestnuts at the beginning “coconuts”.
