Control

Tuesday, October 5th, 2004

Lauren’s getting better control of her body these days. She can sort-of sit up on her own, but will topple over after some time. She’s doing awesomely well on her tummy, and is trying hard to roll over.

Since the daylight saving time happened on Sunday, Lauren’s not been sleeping well at night. That is, she’s not going to sleep well. Tonight she cried for quite a while and we couldn’t console her. Or maybe it was the broccoli soup that Nicole and I ate the other night…

Bubbles and giggles

Tuesday, October 5th, 2004

Lauren’s getting really good at making giggling noises, and loves making bubbles in her mouth. Whenever I wipe off the bubbles, a stack of new ones appear in a few seconds. Maybe she’ll like frothed milk in her lattes when she’s older.

We also have some amazing chatting sessions, where she’ll make a noise, and then I make a noise. This is supposed to set her up for conversation, so that two people don’t talk at the same time. I bet those theorists never met two old ladies chatting to each other on a bus in germany!

Babysitting

Saturday, October 2nd, 2004

Today was the first time I had to take care of Lauren and Evan all by myself, as Nicole went to the circus with a girlfriend. Fortunately she didn’t run off with the circus and came back, just as Lauren was starting to get very fidgety about getting some food. She’s such a cool baby though – she hardly cried the whole time Mummy was away. Going for 4 hours without food during the day and not crying is a pretty good accomplishment I’d say.
