Evan Hoflich

Evan had his 8th birthday on Friday and I took the day off work.

We got up a bit earlier than usual and Evan opened up his presents. He got some great stuff from Grandma and some friends from overseas. Pauline and Willy gave Evan a Lego walkie-talkie which he really loved! Grandma gave him the first Harry Potter book and some toys as well as giving all of us a trampoline! The trampoline was a big gift, so it covered Evan’s, Lauren’s and our birthdays!

Oma & Opa gave him $125 for his birthday and the Christmases, so he was very happy. From us he got a ripstik (sort-of like a skateboard) and a Captain Underpants book. Lauren bought him a “connect-four” game which he’s been talking a lot about getting, since I think they play it a lot at school.

I walked the 2 kids to school and then when I got back home, we put together the trampoline. It took a bit of time and effort to put together, but it worked out ok in the end.

I was still putting the trampoline together when the kids came home from school, but I managed to just finish in time. I caught Evan’s face on video when he first saw the trampoline. It was priceless.

The kids have been spending a lot of time on the trampoline since. Lauren was a bit over-tired because of it and has become stroppy (at least we put it down to over-tired, since she’s not normally this bad).

We then had 7 kids (Daniel, De Kai, Delon, Cohen, Mukun, Lucas and Evan) over and we made our way to the local bowling alley where they put on a special for kids’ birthdays. They got to play a game of bowling, each get some food and then 30 minutes of unlimited video games, which they all loved. The kids had a great time at the bowling I think. We then came home and the kids jumped on the trampoline for a bit and then people went home.

Overall, I think Evan had a great time on the day!
