Hurray! Evan went on the potty today! He’s normally quite good about going wee on the loo, but this time he actually did a poo! We’ve been trying to convince him to go for quite some time now, and finally it worked! We’ve been trying to “encourage” him to go, by saying we’ll take him […]

Evan’s so funny. Whenever he means to say “dessert” he says “de-ert”. We try to get “dessert” out of him, but he’ll always just say de-ert. Too funny.

We had a lovely day on Sunday. There was a Farm Day out near Mangere Bridge, which was all free. They expected 20,000 people and almost all the events were free. We saw sheep being sheared, cows being milked, lambs, donkeys, chickens, kunekune and other farm animals. Evan loved petting the lambs (who seemed to […]

Evan’s doing pretty well at kindie these days. He’s now stopped crying when Nicole leaves him there and says “Mummy go, but Mummy come back soon.” He’s so sweet!

Well, Evan did the unexpected the other day. He turned on the barbeque all by himself! He’s been obsessed with the barbeque for some time, and always asks for it to be turned on when I get home. When I did get home, he said to me “Daddy, Evan naughty. Turn on barbie”. We have […]

I often say “Good boy” to Evan whenever he does something good, like say “thank-you” or “please” or put something away properly. Yesterday, when we finished putting Lauren’s cot together, he came over to me, patted me on the shoulder and said “Good boy”. Nice to get some recognition! 🙂

I was reading the ingredients to a yummy muesli-bar that Evan had and said “Hey Evan, can you say ‘Humectants’?” and he paused for a second and then just said “Yummy”. Easy way out.

Evan loves batteries. Probably though, he loves swapping out batteries. He fairly early on could say “batteries dead”. The other day he was playing with the baby-monitor and he couldn’t get it working. He kept saying “batteries dead”. I told him that not everything has batteries. I asked him whether he had any batteries. He […]

Evan had a great time today helping put together Lauren’s cot (which he used to sleep in of course). We decided Lauren was big enough to move from the bassinette to the cot and so we got the wooden pieces out and Evan helped set it up. Evan did very well turning the Allen key […]

Evan loves to play hide-and-seek and is now getting used to the concept. Before, he’d either not hide properly, or not count properly, but now he’s understood when he’s hiding, or when he’s seeking. He gets a kick out of finding us and we do dramatise the whole event. There are only so many places […]
