Our great four-day long weekend

We had a great four-day long weekend!! Yes, this year the end of Ramadan (called Hari Raya in Singapore) fell on a Thursday, and the August 9th national day celebration fell on a Friday – instant four-day long weekend! Hooray!!

Wednesday night, the eve of the long weekend, I came home and we watched Rocky IV. Great! On the first day, Thursday I fixed my guitar, changed the strings, cleaned it, tidied utterly, added a pick-guard, and got all sorts of things done. Cool! I was hoping that if I could keep up the pace I’d have things where I wanted them to be. We watched Rocky V. Great!

The second day I got much less done. We went to see The Wolverine at the local mall, then I went drinking with Val and his wife, before coming home to watch Rocky Balboa. Great!

The third day I spent nearly all morning and early afternoon cleaning, while Zen had math and science tutorial. Groan… After that we went to eat chili crab, came back and watched Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator (no more Rocky movies to watch).

On Sunday, the last day, we hung out for a while at home, Naoko and Zen did some studying and prep work, I did some music work, teaching myself to play a Chinese song and two German songs on the guitar. Nice! I also got to work on my own original songs, although I don’t think I got much done. We also watched another Chaplin film – City Lights!
