When Evan’s naughty he loses bedtime stories. We start at 4 and every time he’s naughty he’ll lose a story. Sometimes when I phone home from work and ask if he’s been naughty, he’ll ask Mummy how many stories he’ll be getting that night.

I don’t like to take stories away, because we have a nice time at night reading books and talking. I want him to appreciate reading and don’t want to take stories away if I can help it.

Once I’m done reading, we’ll talk about his day and maybe about what’s happening tomorrow. Then I sing him “the sunshine song” (you are my sunshine) and then leave. He’s good now about not needing me to stay with him, and generally, both kids are in bed and asleep by 8pm.
