Halloween was another great time this year, with the kids getting dressed up and a couple of families coming to our house to go out trick-or-treating. Fortunately for me, Halloween was on a Saturday this year, so I was able to see the whole thing. We also just made it back in time from our Okinawa trip, so we were happy with the timing!

Evan was dressed as a skeleton with a scary mask and Lauren dressed as a witch. We borrowed clothes from Jackie and the kids looked really great. Heather and her family, Yoko and her family and Ani and Hideo and family all met up and went to the houses around Amerikazaka. Unfortunately we stopped off at the most scary house (music, lights, props etc.) right near the beginning, so Eric was a bit freaked out for the rest of the night.

Evan and Julia held hands for a big part of the tour! It was very cute!

There didn’t seem to be so many houses doing trick-or-treating. We dropped by Chris’ place and he said they bought $100 worth of lollies from the army base (already very cheap) which was a big barrel-ful, and by the time we got there, he said the had only 1/3 of it left! There also didn’t seem to be that many people out and about this year. Maybe we left late (6:30, which was after it had gotten dark) or something, but it seemed different. Also the kids came home with a modest amount of loot, rather than the copious amounts they usually come home with. Anyways, the kids were in good spirits and in general I think we all had a good time – I know I did!

On the way back to the house, we saw Okada-san and her helper in the wedding shop and she made us come in and she gave all the kids a huge handful of lollies! And I was hoping we’d make it home with only a reasonable number of lollies. :)
